At Mid America Training in Wichita, KS, we strive to provide our customers with training options that will help individuals to help themselves. We believe that we can teach a person to develop and take responsibility for their own personal safety strategy that will work best for them and with the tools provided can build upon that plan for an entire lifetime. This gives them added security for themselves and those around them. While we have fantastic law enforcement agencies across this nation, the statistics prove that they cannot and will not be there every time a violent crime is in progress. Thus, our personal safety is not the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies but rests solely on ourselves.

Almost all of us know someone who has been the victim of a violent crime; some have even been victims themselves. Violent encounters are happening at a lightning pace in today’s society. Situational awareness — being alert about your surroundings — can help you avoid attacks or at least provide some warning of a pending attack. In all training courses we offer, we stress the fact that the students need to be aware of their surroundings and to use the tools they are given to develop a tailor-made, personal protection plan, that fits their needs. If you are attacked, every second of notice you have will be valuable in mounting a defense and possibly saving yours or someone else’s life.

We realize that carrying a gun is not always the proper and most prudent method of self-defense. While we do provide both Basic and First Step Handgun training, Personal Protection in the Home, and Personal Protection Outside the Home, and the Kansas Concealed Carry Permit course (which are all gun courses) for those desiring to carry a weapon, we also provide the National Rifle Association’s, Non-Gun, “Refuse To Be A Victim” course. This personal protection course assists the student by providing them with tools and techniques necessary to develop their personal protection plan that can help them keep themselves and their family and friends from becoming another statistic in the ever growing list of those who have been victimized by crime.
